Patient Testimonial

I started acupuncture treatments with Dr. Grigorian about 2 years ago. I was suffering from daily migraines that had become debilitating. The treatment I received from her has helped immensely. I can confidently say that her treatment has reduced my migraines down to about once a month. Dr. Grigorian is a person that takes her time evaluating you. She asks questions to find the root of the issue you are having. She listens to your concerns and is understanding. In addition to migraine treatment, she treated me for anxiety and depression. She went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met. I strongly recommend Dr. Grigorian.

Eczema Around the Eye

Case Report

25 yr/old female diagnosed with eczema around the eye in March 2021, with no prior history. Patient reported first experiencing swelling of the left eye starting from the inner canthus and moving towards the upper eyelid in February 2021.  Ten days later, the entire upper eyelid became swollen. She also reported developing cystic acne on her left cheek. Approximately 10 days after the swelling, the patient reported experiencing flaky, itchy dry cracked , and painful  skin around the left eye.  The patient was prescribed a topical steroid  at the end of March 2021 by her Primary Care Physician (PCP). The patient reports that at first the her eyes started to clear up while on vacation in April 2021. However, by mid-April 2021 the swelling had progressed to both eyes with the skin becoming more flaky, dry, cracked and raw. The patient reported a 4 out 10 pain around the eye, stating the pain was tolerable but it affected her ability to focus at work and affected her ability to fall asleep. The patient reports the topical steroids did not help relieve the pain.

The patient also reported having a history of anxiety from childhood, however, experiencing unmanageable levels of anxiety during the pandemic due to personal and work factors.  The patient had been recently prescribed Escitalopram (Lexapro) to manage her anxiety attacks. Discussed with the patient how mental health conditions such as stress, anxiety, and depression may cause an eczema flare-up or worsen existing symptoms.  Also, discussed with the patient how eczema is also associated with Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) medications.

After treating the patient with acupuncture and a custom herbal formula regularly for one month the patient reported no longer experiencing pain or burning sensation around her both left and right eye. The patient reported her face and acne also clearing up.

I went to Dr. G first because I was experiencing some serious rash on my face, looked like eczema but was severely inflamed. My primary doctor couldn’t seem to figure out the issue, no steroid was working to calm my inflammation, and a few people had recommended me Dr. G as my first introduction to chinese medicine. From the first visit, the experience was already different than  to Dr. G I could really see it improve. She prescribed me a tea and an eyewash that also provided great relief. Grateful to have this as my first acupuncture experience.
